Overview
This project was to create a book about paper airplanes. Through the process of this project, the end creation became a boundless accordion style book. Each page of the book has perforated edge that allows the user to tear out each page and create a paper airplane from that page. The pages of this book contained instructions on how to build the paper airplanes, fold lines, and the history of paper airplanes. Aesthetically, the voice
of this book was to convey the passage of time with stained aged paper and a more modern style typeface. The idea was not only for people read about paper airplanes, but to be able to interact with the pages playfully by the making of paper airplanes.

Introduction:
As kids we created them out of paper, used them to pass notes, or just wanted to see whose would fly the furthest. The paper airplane has been a source of enjoyment for all age groups from children to adults. For this project, I would like to create something playful out of paper and paper airplanes seemed the best fit.
Research Methodology:
The research for this project it encompasses the history of the paper airplane, different ways to make paper airplanes, and interesting ways to layout type. All three research methods will help push the normal topic of the paper airplane and make it more than just a hobby book.
Target Audience:
The target audience for this project, like mentioned before, will be all age groups. Since there is not a limit on the enjoyment of paper airplanes. This style of book will be geared toward a higher reading level but that’s not to say a child couldn’t be assisted in making a paper airplane.
Strategy:
This will be a small book. It will contain type not only about the history of paper airplanes but also other text. The text would possibly include history, poems, music, or text that pertains to the subject. These pages will have the overarching theme of the paper airplane, but visually will be different based on the type of paper airplane on that page. I open to the possibility of foldouts, if it fits within the stylistic theme of the book.
Objective:
Since we live in an interactive world, finding new ways for the user to be intrigued by physical paper books can be challenging. By giving them option of interacting with the book and creating something could entice them to look into other physical books. For this project, it would not only be appealing based on the aspects of the paper airplane but aesthetically beautiful as well. Through the use of type, image, and interaction this small book would make a big impact.
All who read and interact with the book would learn something new along with having a
fun experience.

History
When researching paper airplanes, I began with the history of paper airplanes and how they evolved through out time. There is some debate as to the where the paper airplane originated, and I kept that in mind moving forward.
1. Origami of paper birds which planes were modeled after.
2. Leonardo Da Vinci paper model of the ornithopter (helicopter).
3. Aero Magazine using paper models to demonstrate the principles of aerodynamics.
4. Paper models being used as toys during the Great Depression and throughout World War II.
5. Modern uses of the paper airplane after World War II.

Different Types of Airplanes
The number of different models of paper airplanes are way more than imagined. To narrow down the choices, I kept the folding difficulty between easy and medium. Along with that, I choose six different models to coincide with the six colors of the rainbow. These six models are called: basic, dart, stealth, buzz, hunter, and bullnose.

Types of Layout
For this project, each page would include folding lines, instructions, the name of the paper airplane,
and the history of paper airplanes. When researching different layouts, I searched for heavy type based layouts.
